Birthinvestment guide

01 · WELCOME
Hi friend, I'm so glad you're here
The powerful moments, the quiet ones, the ones that feel like an inhale held in the body. The moment everything changes.
The way a room feels as labour builds. The rhythm of breath and hands held. The stillness right before baby arrives, and the way the world narrows to only what matters.
If you welcome me in, I'll be there with presence and care, so you can stay inside your experience. I'll notice the moments you're busy living and hold them for you, ready for when you want to return to them.
02 · YOUR SAFETY
A registered SABPA member
I'm a registered member of the South African Birth Photographers Association. SABPA equips birth photographers to protect the integrity, safety and privacy of the birth space, and to work within the rules of every hospital and birth centre.
It also means you're never without cover: if I'm ever unable to make it, a SABPA backup photographer is on call for your birth too.
03 · PROCESS
From first message to first breath
Quiet, respectful and centred on you, every step of the way.

one
Reach out
Share the season you're in and what you're hoping for: your due window, where you plan to birth, and anything that matters to you.
two
Permission & booking
Your birth team signs a simple permission form. Then a contract, your birth questionnaire and a 25% retainer secure your on-call window, for a vaginal birth or a planned C-section.
three
Planning together
Over a call or a cup of tea, we talk through boundaries, preferences, your support team, lighting and what feels safe for you.
four
On call for you
From 37 to 42 weeks I'm on call day and night. You'll let me know when things begin, or your theatre time for a planned birth, and I'll join you when it feels right.
five
During your birth
I settle quietly. No directing, no interrupting, no bright lights. I move with the room, never against it.
six
The hours after
I stay for the first moments earthside: skin to skin, the meeting of eyes, the first feed. Then I slip out gently so you can cocoon and rest.
seven
Your gallery
Five preview images within 24 to 48 hours, then your full gallery six to eight weeks later. Softly edited, tender and true.
04 · COLLECTIONS
A look at what I offer
Every collection includes on-call support from 37 weeks, a pre-birth planning call or tea, and five previews within 24 to 48 hours.

Collection 01
Your Birth Story
A simple, focused way to have your baby's arrival documented, quietly and with presence. The build of labour or the calm before theatre, the hands you reach for, the moment you meet your baby, and the first hour of becoming.
- Coverage from active labour (6 to 7 cm), or one to two hours before theatre
- One to two hours after birth
- 80+ edited images in a private online gallery

Collection 02
Your Birth and The First Days
For the full arc. If birth is the moment everything changes, the days that follow are where you learn each other. This holds both: the intensity of birth, and the quieter hours of your first week.
- Everything in Your Birth Story
- A First Days session (Fresh 48 or at home within seven days)
- A further 80+ edited postpartum images

Collection 03
Your Full Journey
Your whole story, held with care: pregnancy, birth and the first days earthside. One storyteller from start to finish, who arrives for your birth already knowing who you are and what matters to you.
- A maternity session (about an hour, 75+ images)
- Full birth coverage and gallery (80+ images)
- A First Days session and gallery (80+ images)

05 · Add-on
The Film Keepsake
Short fragments of real movement and sound, gathered quietly between photographs and stitched into a gentle home movie set to music. If your collection spans more than one session, everything is woven into one flowing film.
06 · QUESTIONS
Your questions
Birth bookings happen in conversation. A message or a voice note is always welcome.
Birth is unscripted, powerful and vulnerable, rich with tiny details and big feelings. Having it documented lets you return to one of the most defining days of your life, and to how it actually felt.
Respectfully and without intrusion. I'm part of your birth team but I'm not a doula, so I won't direct you or tell you to push. I'll say hello, then move quietly in and out of the room, giving you space when you need it.
For a vaginal birth I aim to arrive in active labour, and I'm on call from 37 weeks until baby arrives. For a planned C-section I join you one to two hours before theatre and stay one to two hours after. Just keep me in the loop.
Yes. A Fresh 48 session takes place in hospital (or at home) within the first 48 hours. I'm on call for these too, so you can message me as soon as baby has arrived and let me know when you'd like me to come.
Before booking, your birth team needs to give permission. I'll send you a simple form to have everyone sign, and then we're ready to go.
This is so common. The best thing is to meet for a tea or a WhatsApp call, so your partner can ask all their questions and see how quietly I work.
That's the beauty of booking with a SABPA member: a backup photographer is assigned and on call for your birth too.
Once your birth team has given permission, a 25% retainer and a signed contract secure your booking. The balance is due one month before your due date. Birth photography is a meaningful investment, so payment plans are always available.
